Overview: Building on the foundation laid in “Seeing is not Always Believing,” this workshop, led by Irina Crocker and Silvia Stelea, delves deeper into the societal perceptions of disability and the value of volunteering. Participants will engage in debates that challenge their biases and expand their understanding of inclusivity.

Objectives:

– Explore and challenge biases related to disability and productivity.

– Foster critical thinking through structured debates.

– Encourage a more inclusive and empathetic workplace culture.

Target Audience:

– Professionals interested in diversity and inclusion.

– Leaders and managers looking to create a more inclusive work environment.

– Advocates for disability rights and inclusive policies.

Event Structure:

– Exercises 1 & 2:  

The workshop will start with the same exercises as “Seeing is not Always Believing,” setting the stage for deeper reflection.

– Debate Session:  

Participants will be divided into teams to debate topics such as the perceived productivity of people with disabilities and whether volunteering should be rewarded. This exercise is designed to reveal participants’ unconscious biases and encourage open-mindedness.

– Q&A Session: Interactive session where attendees can ask questions and engage with the speaker.

– Networking: Opportunities to connect with other attendees.

Seeing is not Always Believing

The Seeing is not Always Believing and Beyond Sight: Constructive Visions workshops are designed to challenge participants’ perceptions and encourage greater empathy, trust, and inclusivity in the workplace. These workshops will take place on 27 and 28 September at the National Library of Romania in Bucharest bringing together professionals from various fields to engage in experiential learning and thought-provoking discussions.

The Immersive Workshops are accessible for free. Pre-registration is required to attend, with a deadline set 24 hours prior to the event.
