Institute for Public Relations & Voya Financial: Disabilities in the Workplace

To better understand employee perceptions, the Institute for Public Relations and Voya Financial partnered on a survey of 1,014 employees in organizations with more than 15 full-time employees to determine how well organizations communicate about and support disabilities and inclusion in the workplace.

New research from Accenture, in partnership with Disability:IN and the American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD), reveals that companies that embrace best practices for employing and supporting more persons with disabilities in their workforce have outperformed their peers. This research shows that leading companies were, on average, twice as likely to have higher total shareholder returns than those of their peer group.
This report – part of the ongoing Getting to Equal series – explores the powerful culture of equality that results when all of these eight factors are brought to bear in an organization. Accenture’s findings further indicate that progress toward that goal correlates with greater advancement potential for all employees and with an organization’s ability to innovate and accelerate growth.
